India-based fintech company Raise Financial has acquired GreenLife Insurance Broking Private Limited (GIBL) in an all-cash-and-stock transaction, marking its strategic entry into India’s insurance distribution market. The acquisition allows Raise Financial - the parent company of stock trading platform Dhan- to expand beyond capital markets and wealth products into financial protection and insurance services. The company plans to invest nearly $15 million into building a consumer-focused insurance distribution platform powered by technology, product innovation, and improved customer experience. Founded in 2013 by Subir Mukherjee, GIBL is an IRDAI-registered insurance broker with operations across more than 50 cities and towns, particularly in eastern and northeastern India. The company has built partnerships with major public and private insurers across life and general insurance categories and has developed a strong B2B insurance distribution network over the years. Following the acquisition, GIBL will continue operating as a wholly owned subsidiary within the Raise ecosystem. The company also plans to launch a new direct-to-consumer insurance platform by the end of 2026, combining digital-first onboarding with advisory-led support for customers across metros, Tier 1, and Tier 2 cities. The move reflects a growing trend among Indian fintech and wealthtech firms to evolve into full-stack financial ecosystems by integrating investing, savings, lending, and insurance offerings into unified digital platforms.
