Germany’s federal government and the European Investment Fund (EIF) have launched a new multi-billion-euro funding programme designed to support high-growth startups and help develop future global technology leaders often referred to as “tech champions.” The initiative aims to strengthen Europe’s innovation ecosystem, expand late-stage financing, and reduce dependence on foreign capital for scaling innovative companies. Under the programme, Germany, along with other EU member states, has committed substantial public funds including a significant contribution from its Future Fund and related venture finance vehicles to help startups access growth capital at crucial stages. The funding is channelled through institutions such as the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the EIF, which will help deploy capital into venture funds and directly into high-potential companies.
