Amazon has announced a fresh investment of ₹2,800 crore in India to expand its operations network, improve delivery speeds, and strengthen its fast-growing quick commerce business. The move highlights Amazon’s long-term commitment to one of its most strategic global markets. The latest funding builds on Amazon’s earlier ₹2,000 crore investment announced in 2025 and forms part of the company’s broader pledge to invest over $35 billion in India by 2030. The capital will support infrastructure expansion, digital innovation, exports, and job creation. A major focus of the investment will be scaling Amazon Now, Amazon’s quick commerce platform. The company plans to more than double its footprint in current cities and expand into new markets, competing more aggressively in India’s booming rapid-delivery segment. Amazon will also strengthen fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery stations, especially across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. This is expected to improve customer delivery timelines while helping more Indian sellers and small businesses access nationwide markets. The company said a portion of the funds will be used for employee welfare and safety programs, including healthcare, insurance, rest centres, and AI-powered route planning systems for delivery associates. This investment signals Amazon’s intent to deepen its India presence while taking on rising competition in e-commerce and quick commerce through stronger infrastructure, smarter logistics, and faster customer service.
